High-altitude, with access to Espace Killy with Tignes
Vibrant apres scene
Ski hard, party hard. Renowned as much for its quality slopes and reliable snow as for its legendary après-party scene, ski holidays to Val d’Isère are, unsurprisingly, among our most popular trips.
Well known for its fantastic mix of challenging runs and off-piste, Val d’Isere ski resort boasts access to the vast 300km Espace Killy ski area. Beginners and intermediates can explore the French ski areas' extensive range of greens and blues for cruisy, easy-going descents, while snowboarders take to the 40 kickers and six lines in the freestyle park.
Trust us, with this lot and the après, you’ll be living it up all week!
Our score is based on resort data; it reflects current forecasts, not guaranteed snow quality, and applies to the ski area, not specific resorts. Conditions can change quickly.

Best time to ski in Val d'Isere
Due to its popularity, Val d’Isere ski resort can get busy during peak times – especially in February when the French flock to the Alps for their holidays – but there’s lots of space to spread out. Embrace the festive vibes at Christmas with fireworks, ice sculptures, and street parades. Or, to avoid the crowds and grab a bargain, book a Val d’Isere holiday mid-January. Hold out for a late-season trip in March and April for longer days, warm spring skiing, and après sundowners on the slopes.

FAQs about Val d'Isere ski holidays Your questions answered by our Val d'Isere ski resort expert
Is Val d’Isere good for skiing?

In January, you’ll stand the best chance of bucketloads of powdery goodness. And while March and April typically bring on sunnier days, big dumps of late-season snow are not unheard of.

And finally, if you want to know the best time to ski in France to skip the crowds, then avoid the school holidays if you can, or choose from one of many lesser-known, quieter resorts.
