Originally a mining town, La Thuile's old buildings and river lend the resort real charm. And, with easy access to the slopes, lifts, and restaurants, it makes ski holidays with little ones a dream.
What's more, on a clear day, it’s not only possible to see Mont Blanc to the north but also the iconic silhouette of Switzerland’s Matterhorn 60km away. Talk about some serious mountain magic!

Best time to ski in La Thuile
La Thuile skiing officially kicks off at the end of November, but things really get going when the link to nearby La Rosière opens mid-December. As to be expected, the slopes can get busy during Christmas and New Year, but when the fairy lights are twinkling and the festive cheer is high, the ambience in La Thuile ski resort is magical. Locals go skiing here in February, and March is the perfect time to bag a bargain.
Snow conditions in La Thuile
With heaps of high-altitude north-facing pistes climbing up to 2500m, the snow in La Thuile ski resort is a good bet all season. And snow cannons provide backup if the white stuff retreats a bit. Snow dumps are at their heaviest in December and January, and lower temperatures keep the slopes pristine in February. Extra flurries in March top-up the runs just in time for a La Thuile ski holiday in spring.
